About The Light

History

Light Of The World Christian Center (LOTWCC), an innovative and progressive non-denominational church, was founded by Pastor George G. & Lady Tamika D. Simmons on January 14, 2003.  The church is located in the heart of downtown Walterboro, South Carolina.

Beginning in their home with just their immediate family, Pastor Simmons steppd out on faith knowing that God had called him to establish a presence in the City.  After  few months, the Word began to spread and congregants began traveling from the outskirts of the City as well as neighboring counties.  Continuing to follow God's mandate for his life, Pastor Simmons sought God for a place to house the vision that God had given him for LOTWCC.  His teaching and preaching style was so electrifying and his wisdom and knowledge of the Word of God was so captivating that people began to spread the Word.  This infant church had to be taught everything:  how to fast, how to pray, how to worship and how to give.  The membership grew and God spke and told him to focus on building people of purpose.  With that in mind, Light Ministries outreach was birthed for the purpose of developing the capabilities of individuals to benefit our community by providing spiritual guidance, economic support and service to the youth, elderly and their families.  Along with that addition came the Media Department.  To date, "A Moment of Prophecy" broadcast airs weekly and rapidly reaches people in Colleton County and surrounding areas.

In November 2004, the ministry moved to a rented storefront at 321 N. Walter Street.  Pastor Simmons has continued to hold his ground convinced that God had put him there.  Under the dynamic leadership of Pastor George G. & Lady Tamika D. Simmons, LOTWCC is experiencing tremendous new heights in spiritual and ecomonic growth.  Over the years, the minstry has continued to grow and God has blessed Pastor Simmons with the ability to create a shared vision amond his devoted congregation.

Statement of Faith

The central objective of this ministry is to build people of purpose in the power of praise, worship and prosperity. This mandate is being fulfilled by teaching and preaching the reality of the gospel in every area of ministry and as a result applying it to our everyday living. Our assignment is to teach and preach God's Word in an uncompromised manner so that purpose is revealed and destiny fulfilled.

God has given our Pastor a vision of a miraculous deliverance ministry called Light Of The World Christian Center, where people will be taught and given an example of holiness, excellence, character and integrity.

This born again and spirit filled church is to have an emphasis on building men and women with a God-conscience so that they function as individuals, husbands, wives, parents and children in a manner that glorifies God and impacts this generation.

Our goal is to reach the hurting and the lost with the message of faith and a loving touch to help men, women and children all across the world by personal appearance, satellites, etc. and to overcome challenges in life.

Our commitment is to minister to the total man so that the can be a light that shines in darkness, for we are the Light Of The World!

Our Mission

The mission of Light Of The World Christian Center is to empower men and women to manifest the vision, purpose and plan for their lives in a manner that glorifies God and bring impact to this generation and those to come. We are equipped to spearhead wisely and are empowered by the Holy Spirit to win souls, renew minds, teach and preach the uncompromised Word of God, strengthen families, and train leaders. Ultimately, we are "A Ministry of Excellence, Building People of Purpose".

What We Believe
  • We believe the Bible to be inspired and the only infallible, authoritive Word of God.
  • We believe that there is only one God eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
  • We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for one's personal salvation.
  • We believe that the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer.
  • We believe that the baptism with the Holy Ghost, according to Acts 2:4, with evidence of speaking in other tongues, is given to believers who ask for it.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and the Head of the Church and that every local church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs.
  • We believe that all men are born with a sinful nature and that the work of the cross was to redeem man from the power of sin.
  • We believe that salvation is available to all who will receive it.
  • We believe that every man is the steward of his life and resources which ultimately belong to God.
  • We believe that tithes and offering are measures of obedience to the scriptural principals of stewardship.
  • We believe that evangelism is the obligation of every follower of Jesus Christ as the Lord commands us to go out and make disciples of all the earth.
  • We believe each person is responsible to evangelize in their own family as the Lord leads and gives the ability.
  • We believe in the observance of water baptism by immersion of individuals who by profession of faith and a life of commitment desire to identify themselves with the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in the observance of the Lord's Supper whereby all believers will commemorate what Jesus Christ did on Calvary's Cross.
  • We believe in the worship of the Lord through singing, shouting, clapping, lifting of hands and dancing.
  • We believe in the authority of the believer to ask freely of the Lord for his needs.
  • We believe in the operation of the ministry offices and gifts, which include the Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher, for the perfection of the saints, for the work of the ministry and for the edifying of the Body of Christ.
  • We believe in prophecy, which is the inspired declaration of the divine will and purpose and is used to confirm the Word of God. During prophecy, one ususally speaks in other tongues followed by an interpretation to provide understanding.
